Super Visa

A Super Visa is a special long-term, multiple-entry visa issued by the Canadian government that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit Canada for extended periods. Unlike a regular visitor visa, which allows stays of up to six months, a Super Visa allows stays of up to five years per visit, with multiple entries for up to ten years.

1. Eligibility Criteria

   • The applicant must be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

   • Dependents (e.g., children) cannot be included in the application.

   • A letter of invitation from the child or grandchild living in Canada is required.

2. Financial Requirements

   • The host (child or grandchild) must meet the minimum income threshold to ensure financial support.

   • Proof of income (e.g., tax documents, pay stubs, bank statements) must be provided.

3. Medical Insurance Requirement

   • The applicant must have private health insurance from a Canadian insurance company.

   • The coverage must be at least CAD 100,000 and valid for at least one year from the date of entry.

4. Medical Exam

   • A medical examination is required to prove the applicant is in good health before approval.

5. Processing Time

   • Processing times vary depending on the applicant's home country and application volume.

6. Application Process

   • The application is submitted online or through a Visa Application Center (VAC).

   • Biometrics (fingerprints and photos) may be required.

7. Differences from Regular Visitor Visa

   • Allows longer stays (up to 5 years per visit) compared to the 6-month limit on a regular visitor visa.

   • Provides multiple entries for up to 10 years.
